13 Things That Could Make or Break Your Wedding Day

Guests should be asked to not take photos during the ceremony. It’s really important to have your officiant emphasize this to everyone. If you’d like, you can give guests 30 seconds to take pictures during the ceremony or at the end.

Vendors should eat when the couple eats. This is vital as it gives us time to prepare for toasts, dances, etc. Plus, we won’t film you eating anyway!

Your officiant should tell the audience when to rise and when to sit back down. If you’re having a loved one officiate, you might need to remind them of this.

Use a handheld microphone to read your vows. You’ve worked hard to make your vows perfect, and you’ll want your guests to hear them! Discuss with your officiant and DJ about how to best broadcast you and your honey on the big day. If the DJ can provide a handheld microphone for the vows, we recommend using one.

Send photo + video examples to family. You’ll want to capture your most important people on your most important day, so try giving them an idea of how to act in front of the camera(s) at your wedding. Guests who aren’t familiar with modern wedding photography/videography tend to stop and pose for cheesy pictures when they see our cameras, but it’s best to record genuine, candid moments.

STOP AND KISS! STOP AND KISS! When you’re coming back down the aisle after being pronounced married, stop and kiss! You’re going to love this shot.

Bring a second pair of shoes. If you plan on dancing during your reception or walking on uneven ground for your portraits, that second pair of comfortable shoes will be worth it.

Learn to tie a tie. Whether bow tie or necktie, you’ll want to know how to tie your own before the wedding. It’s the little things!

Throw stuff to get that perfect shot- literally. Have your guests throw confetti, flower petals, or any other eye-catching pieces during your send-off (and make sure they know when to toss)!

Tell your family to stick around for photos! Family photos CAN run smoothly IF everyone is informed and prepared. Prior to your wedding, text or call anyone who needs to stick around for family photos after the ceremony and let them know.

Carefully consider sunlight and daylight saving time. Photos and videos always take a little longer than expected, but the sun works on its own time. Once it’s gone, it’s gone, so you must plan carefully.

Tell your photographer about your videographer. It’s helpful for them to know we’ll be working together to capture one of the most important days of your life.

If something happens off script on the big day, come get us! We’ll always be where the schedule tells us to be, but if something is going down on the other side of the venue that you want filmed, send a bridesmaid or a coordinator to find us. We’ll be there!
